The Kansas dirt was dry as a bone
Cracked from the sun, crops wouldn’t grow
Alone in his field, he fell to his knees
Hoping the clouds would bring some relief
He prayed
For rain
To spill from heaven above and wash his hunger away
Oh, lord, how he prayed
For rain
She stared out the window
Worried about the clouds
And the last second changes to her wedding gown
The backyard was ready
The chairs all in place
Now all that she needed
Was a bright sunny day so
She prayed
For no rain
To spill from heaven above and ruin her wedding day
Oh, lord how she prayed
For no rain
If we could hear all the prayers sent to heaven
Would we think twice about the ones we’ve been sending
And if he answered mine, would it bring others pain
Like sunshine for a wedding
When a farmer needs rain
The farmer waved as they drove by
Dragging those cans and a “just married” sign
He thought to himself it’s better this way
Cuz no one needs rain on their wedding day
Then it rained
And it rained
Spilled from heaven above and washed his hunger away
Oh, lord
How it rained and it rained
So many prayers were answered the day
It rained
And it rained
